Director & Senior Lead Instructor

The Story Behind Transcom National Training

I’m Gareth Wildman, founder of Transcom National Training. My background is not just classroom-based. It started in the cab, working as a professional LGV driver and operating in the real transport environment where time pressure, vehicle safety, tachograph rules, drivers’ hours and operator licence compliance all matter.

I later moved into training and became a senior lead instructor for major national providers. That experience showed me what good training can do, but it also showed me where the industry often falls short. Too much transport training had become generic, dated and disconnected from the real compliance risks operators face.

Transcom National Training was created to do things differently: focused, current and practical commercial transport compliance training, delivered by people who understand the pressure placed on drivers, transport managers, company directors and operator licence holders.

“Trans” means Transport. “Com” means Compliance.

Transcom exists for one reason: to support safer, more compliant commercial transport operations. We are not a general training company trying to cover every industry. We specialise in commercial transport compliance training, including Driver CPC training, Transport Manager CPC training, Transport Manager CPC refresher training, Operator Licence Awareness Training and operator licence compliance support.

Training Built Around Real Operator Licence Risk

Commercial transport compliance is not just about passing a course or collecting a certificate. Operators are expected to evidence proper systems, effective management control, roadworthiness processes, driver management, training records and continuous compliance. Our courses are designed to be practical, current and relevant to the real duties placed on operators, directors, drivers and transport managers.

Nationwide Training Without Nationwide Overheads

Transcom National Training delivers live online transport compliance training across the UK, helping operators reduce travel time, hotel costs, classroom disruption and staff downtime. For employers, that makes training easier to arrange and more cost-effective to scale across multiple drivers, depots or management teams.

We can also provide on-site commercial transport compliance training nationwide on request, subject to course type, group size, location and operational requirements. This is particularly useful for operators who want focused training for directors, transport managers, planners, workshop staff, drivers or depot teams.

Ideal for:

  • Haulage and logistics operators
  • Restricted operator licence holders
  • PCV, coach and passenger transport businesses
  • Multi-site employers and national fleets
  • Businesses needing cost-effective group training

The Transcom Specialist Advantage

What Matters Transcom National Training Generic Training Providers
Industry Focus Specialist commercial transport compliance training for HGV, LGV and PCV operations. Often spread across many unrelated sectors such as hospitality, warehouse, health and safety or general workplace training.
Driver CPC Live online Driver CPC training with a compliance-led approach for professional drivers. Can become box-ticking attendance training with limited connection to operator licence risk.
Transport Manager CPC Transport Manager CPC training focused on practical operational knowledge, exam preparation and professional competence. May rely heavily on generic material without enough real-world transport management context.
Transport Manager CPC Refresher Refresher training designed to support CPD, good repute and continued professional knowledge. Often treated as a repeat course rather than a serious compliance and professional development requirement.
OLAT Operator Licence Awareness Training for restricted licence holders, directors and transport decision-makers. May not properly address the practical risks faced by restricted operators and company directors.
Delivery Model Live online UK delivery, with nationwide on-site training available on request. Often fixed-location classroom delivery with higher travel, hotel and staff downtime costs.
Cost Effectiveness Designed to help employers train staff efficiently without unnecessary national provider overheads. Larger provider structures can mean higher costs, less flexibility or more generic delivery.

We Don’t Do Everything. We Do Transport.

Some national training providers are like supermarkets. On Monday they are training bar staff for alcohol licensing. On Tuesday they are running forklift training. On Wednesday they might squeeze in a Driver CPC module.

That is not Transcom National Training.

We specialise in commercial transport compliance training. That means Driver CPC training, Transport Manager CPC training, Transport Manager CPC refresher training, Operator Licence Awareness Training, operator licence compliance and the practical systems that help transport businesses stay safe, legal and audit-ready.

When you speak to Transcom, you speak to people who understand the difference between a tachograph infringement, a missing PMI record, a weak defect reporting system and a transport manager good repute problem. That is the value of using a specialist.
