Driver CPC FAQ
Is there a test for Periodic Training?
No. Periodic training (the 35 hours) is attendance-based. You must engage and listen, but there is no exam at the end. Exams are only for the initial qualification.
Can I do the training online?
Yes. We use Zoom. You must have a working webcam and be visible to the trainer for the full 7 hours to ensure your hours are legally uploaded.
Is there a "Grace Period" if my card expires?
No. If your card expires, you cannot drive professionally until you complete your 35 hours. There is no grace period and fines can reach £1,000.
Do I have "Grandfather Rights"?
If you passed your car test before Jan 1997, you have C1 (7.5t) rights, but to use them for work, you must still complete the 35 hours of periodic training first.
