Get expert support with your operator licence application
Applying for an operator licence is not just an online form. A small oversight can delay an application by weeks, and in some cases months.
Transcom National Training provides compliance-led operator licence application support and assistance for Restricted, Standard National and Standard International licence applicants across the UK.
You receive personal support from an experienced transport compliance team, helping you prepare the application properly, check the supporting information, and reduce avoidable issues before submission.

One clear price for all licence types
Whether you are applying for a Restricted, Standard National, or Standard International operator licence, the work required to assist with the application phase is broadly the same.
The application still needs to be accurate, complete, properly evidenced and ready for review.
That is why we charge one straightforward fee. We do not charge more simply because the licence type sounds more complex.
Operator Licence Application Support & Assistance
This applies to Restricted, Standard National and Standard International operator licence applications.
How much does an operator licence cost?
Two separate sets of costs are involved: the statutory DVSA fees, which are set by government and paid directly to DVSA, and our application support fee, which covers the help you receive in preparing and checking the application itself.
| What it's for | Cost |
|---|---|
| DVSA application fee (paid when you submit) | £257 |
| DVSA licence issue fee (paid once granted) | £401 |
| DVSA interim licence fee (only if you need to operate while the full application is processed) | £68 |
| DVSA continuation fee (every 5 years, to keep the licence active) | £401 |
| Transcom application support fee | £299 + VAT |
| Typical total to get a licence granted (excl. interim fee, public notice cost and VAT on our fee) | £957 + VAT |
DVSA fees sourced from gov.uk, checked 22 June 2026. DVSA sets and reviews these fees independently of Transcom National Training — always confirm the current fee on gov.uk before applying. Newspaper public notice costs vary by publication and are not included above.
Why getting the application right matters
Applications already take time
Operator licence applications can take several weeks from initial application to granting. Delays can quickly become expensive when vehicles are waiting to go on the road.
Small mistakes can cause big delays
Missing evidence, unclear answers, incorrect public notice wording or incomplete operating centre details can add weeks or months to the process.
We check before submission
We have real experience helping operators get applications approved and spotting simple oversights before they become costly problems.

Who this service is for
Restricted licence applicants
For businesses carrying their own goods, equipment, tools, materials or plant in connection with their trade or business.
Standard National applicants
For operators carrying goods for hire or reward within Great Britain, where professional competence requirements apply.
Standard International applicants
For operators carrying goods internationally, where the application still needs to be accurate, complete and properly supported.
Our position on pricing
We do not believe in dressing up the same application support into multiple inflated tiers.
A larger fleet or a different licence type may carry different responsibilities once the licence is granted, but the application support itself should be clear, fair and transparent.
Our role is to help you submit a clearer, stronger and better-prepared application, reducing avoidable mistakes that could delay the process.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an operator licence cost in total?
Budget for the DVSA application fee (£257) and licence issue fee (£401), plus our £299 + VAT application support fee — typically £957 + VAT before any interim licence fee, public notice cost or VAT on the DVSA fees. See the cost breakdown above for the full picture.
What are the DVSA fees for an operator's licence?
As of our last check of gov.uk (22 June 2026): £257 to apply, £401 to issue the licence, £68 for an interim licence if needed, and £401 every 5 years to continue the licence. DVSA sets these fees and reviews them periodically, so always confirm the current amount on gov.uk before applying.
Is the price the same for Restricted, Standard National and Standard International applications?
Yes. Our operator licence application support fee is £299 + VAT for all three licence types.
Why do you charge one price?
Because the work involved in assisting with the application phase is broadly the same. The application needs to be accurate, complete and properly evidenced regardless of licence type.
Can you help applicants nationwide?
Yes. We can assist operator licence applicants across the UK remotely.
Can you guarantee the application will be approved?
No. No responsible provider should guarantee that. The decision sits with the Traffic Commissioner.
Are DVSA and third-party fees included?
No. DVSA fees, licence issue fees, interim licence fees, newspaper public notice costs and other third-party costs are separate.
Can you help restricted licence applicants?
Yes. Restricted licence applicants often underestimate the compliance responsibilities that come with holding an operator licence. We can assist with the application and help explain the responsibilities involved.
