Transport Manager Role Readiness Programme
A two-day practical development workshop for newly qualified Transport Managers preparing to take responsibility on an Operator Licence. Build professional judgement, operational clarity and confidence before pressure and enforcement scrutiny test your systems.

Why This Programme Exists
Passing the Transport Manager CPC proves you understand legislation. It does not prepare you for real operational pressure: a driver refusing a tachograph download, a known defect minutes before dispatch, or commercial pressure to “just get it done”.
Many newly appointed Transport Managers only get the rules properly contextualised years later, when they eventually attend a Transport Manager refresher course. By then they have often already carried legal responsibility for some time.
“I have the qualification. What now? How do I actually apply these systems and procedures to be an effective Transport Manager?”
That is the real buyer question this programme is built around.
This programme accelerates that learning curve early, so you operate with clarity before responsibility carries consequences.
Who This Is For
- ✓Newly qualified Transport ManagersStepping into full responsibility and needing operational clarity from day one.
- ✓Transport Managers about to be named on an Operator LicenceGet ready before your name goes on the licence, not after a problem lands.
- ✓Operators and compliance teamsImprove oversight capability early and reduce the risk of escalation to formal action.
Who This Is Not For
Not for people still studying for the CPC
This programme assumes you already hold the qualification. If you still need to gain it, start with our Transport Manager CPC course options.
Not a substitute for the refresher or OLAT
The refresher supports ongoing CPD for existing TMs. OLAT is for operator/director-level licence responsibility. This programme is specifically about early-stage role readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions
I already have my Transport Manager CPC. Why would I need this?
Because qualification is not the same as operational readiness. Your CPC proves you understand legislation, but it does not prepare you for real-world situations where commercial pressure, defects, drivers and enforcement risk collide. This programme bridges that gap.
When is the best time to attend?
Ideally before your first day as a named Transport Manager, or within your first few months. The highest-risk period is the beginning, when you are legally accountable but still building practical confidence.
Should employers require newly appointed Transport Managers to attend?
In many cases, yes. If an operator is placing a newly qualified TM on the licence, the business is relying on that person to protect compliance systems and regulatory standing. Early role-readiness development helps reduce avoidable risk.
Does this count towards my continuous professional development (CPD)?
Yes. This two-day practical programme provides demonstrable evidence of relevant CPD aligned to Transport Manager responsibilities, with a focus on oversight, risk management and accountability.
Is there an exam at the end?
No. This is practical, scenario-based development focused on professional judgement and defensible decision-making, not memorising textbook answers.
Is this instead of the refresher course?
No. The refresher is periodic CPD. This programme is early-stage role readiness designed to build operational confidence and clarity before you carry long-term exposure as a named Transport Manager.
