The legal training hours matter, but the real business value comes from using those hours well. Relevant, properly planned training can reinforce company standards, reduce compliance drift and show drivers that professional development is being taken seriously.
Refresh the standards that weaken over time, including drivers’ hours, tachograph use, vehicle checks, road risk and reporting duties.
Give drivers across different shifts, depots or contracts the same clear message about what the business expects.
Use infringement trends, defect data, incidents, near misses, audit findings and customer requirements to shape the training plan.
Useful training demonstrates investment in drivers’ knowledge and professionalism, supporting morale, development and retention.
Live online delivery can reduce travel, hotel costs and time away from the operation while keeping the session interactive.
Maintain clearer attendance, completion and programme records as part of the wider evidence that the operation is actively managed.
Relevant Driver CPC training does not need to represent a major daily cost to the operation. A private Transcom course gives the employer a full training day for up to 15 drivers, delivered around the standards and risks that matter to the business.
A £795 closed-company online course works out at £53 per driver. After adding the £8.75 Driver CPC recording fee, the total is £61.75 per driver.
For around 27p per available working day, an employer can use Driver CPC to reinforce legal responsibilities, company expectations, safer working practices and professional standards, while showing drivers that their development is worth investing in.
Illustration based on a £795 plus VAT closed-company online course for 15 drivers, plus the current £8.75 Driver CPC recording fee per driver. Available working days are calculated as 52 five-day weeks less 5.7 weeks’ annual leave: 231.5 days. Figures exclude VAT, wages, travel, operational downtime and any additional bespoke-development charges. Holiday treatment may vary by employer.
Transcom National Training specialises in commercial transport training and compliance. Driver CPC is delivered as part of that wider professional standard, not as a generic classroom product.
We quote business Driver CPC on a closed-course or agreed minimum-booking basis. This gives the employer a confirmed delivery arrangement without relying on public seat sales.

Company-site delivery can be arranged where fleet size, location, facilities and the course requirements make it suitable.
Select the most relevant approved module and agree the operational emphasis, examples and discussion points within its approved scope.
For larger or ongoing requirements, Transcom can scope, author and seek approval for a course built around defined workforce and operational needs.
Plan training across the year or five-year cycle to manage expiry dates, shift patterns, driver roles and business risk more effectively.
Combine driver development with training for Transport Managers, directors, planners or restricted operators where a joined-up programme is needed.

Tell us the risks or standards you need to address. We will explain whether an existing approved module fits or whether a new programme should be developed.
Professional drivers generally need 35 hours of periodic training every five years. The correct course route depends on where they need to drive and whether the training must support National or International Driver CPC.
For business clients, we can discuss driver roles, expected work, current training records and expiry dates before recommending a programme. This helps avoid unsuitable courses, unnecessary repetition and last-minute expiry problems.
Tell us how many drivers you need to train, what vehicles they operate, where they work and the risks or standards you want the programme to address. We will recommend a practical route and provide a business quotation.
